Ivory Coast has reached an agreement with the French company Thales to purchase three Ground Master 200 (GM200) radars. This €50 million acquisition aims to modernize the country’s air surveillance capabilities. The first radar is expected to be delivered by March 2025.
Strategic Enhancement of Air Security
The Ivorian army seeks to equip itself with advanced surveillance and defense systems, particularly due to growing threats in the Sahel region. The GM200, developed by Thales, is a medium-range radar designed to detect and track various aerial targets, from aircraft to drones. This advanced technology will improve Ivory Coast’s ability to monitor its airspace and enhance national security.
