At least 20 people were killed and 30 injured Friday in a suicide car bomb attack at a restaurant near the port of Mogadishu, the Somali capital.

The explosion occurred at the Yemeni restaurant Luul, near the port, according to witnesses.
“A speeding car exploded at the Yemeni Luul restaurant. I was on my way to the restaurant but ran back when the explosion shook and covered the area with smoke,” said resident Ahmed Abdullahi, who lives near the site.
Mogadishu Radio Mogadishu, controlled by the Somali state, reported that there had also been destruction of property and that police had cordoned off the area.
No one has claimed responsibility for the explosion.
The Islamist group Al Shabaab frequently conducts such bombings in Somalia and elsewhere as part of its campaign to overthrow the central government of the Horn of Africa country and establish its own rule based on its strict interpretation of Islamic Sharia law.
